Stalking

Stalking is a series of actions by one person, directed at another, that makes the other person feel afraid for their safety, or causes that person to suffer emotional distress based upon the stalker's behavior. Stalking is very serious, often violent, and may escalate over time. The stalker's actions and behavior may be unpredictable, and should always be viewed as potentially dangerous.

However, there are steps a person can take to increase their safety.

Things A Person Can Do When Stalked:

1) If you are in immediate danger, call 911.

2) Contact a local victim services agency, such as the Family Support Center for assistance.

3) Develop a safety plan, and seek assistance and support from family, friends, and co-workers.

4) Obtain a Restraining Order.

5) Keep a log of the stalker's actions and behaviors, making sure to document the date, time, and location of the various incidents. Keep all evidence of the stalking behavior, and have any witnesses provide written statements about what they observed.

6) Take threats seriously, and trust your instincts.
