Community Response

Chippewa County has established a Coordinated Community Response to Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault (CCR). The mission of the CCR is to:

1) Work to end domestic violence and Sexual Assault, and take a professional stance that domestic violence and sexual assault are not acceptable;

2) Protect victims, children and the community from offenders' violence and abuse;

3) Ensure that the services available to victims are safe and responsive to their needs;

4) Hold offenders accountable for their violent and abusive behavior.

Community Members

The CCR members work together through mutual respect,  cooperation, collaboration, and networking. The full CCR meets regularly, and consists of representatives from many agencies and disciplines, and is open to all members of the community. The meetings are a forum for members of the community to raise issues of concern involving domestic violence and sexual assault. They are also educational in nature, as the members are made aware of community projects, programs, and services that address the issues surrounding domestic violence and sexual assault.

There are also monthly meetings of the Sexual Assault Task Force and the Domestic Violence Task Force. These task force meetings involve concrete discussions of system problems and potential solutions. While they are primarily criminal justice oriented, the goal of these task forces is to become an effective community-wide prevention and intervention forum that addresses issues surrounding domestic violence and sexual assault, utilizing a coordinated community response.

For more information on the CCR or the task forces, please contact the Family Support Center at 715-723-1138, or 1-800-400-7020.
